OUR STORY

Another Japan.
A little closer.

A publication for the curious.
An invitation to take your time.

RURAL JAPAN is an English-language travel media project by UGATTA, introducing international visitors to Japan’s rural places. We begin with Neba, a forested village in Nagano.

HOW WE SEE TRAVEL

01

Small places matter.

Our starting point is the village, the landscape and the detail. We want to make room for places that deserve a closer look.

02

Curiosity, with care.

Beautiful places are also people’s homes. We encourage respectful visits, time spent locally and attention to the rhythms of everyday life.

03

A story with a source.

Our destination introductions link to local information. Photographs carry credits, and their sources and reuse terms are available in our image register.
